Turin Line 2 approved

On 20.10.2015 the Turin City Council approved the tender design to authorize the start of tendering process for contracts to construct the city's second driverless metro line, connecting Rebaudengo and Mirafiori. The Italian government's "Unlock Italy" programme has allocated €10m to the city of Turin. According to the latest feasibility study, the total cost of the project is forecast to be €1.19bn. 

The new Line 2 will be 21 km, with 14km in Turin and a further 7km in the town of Orbassano. The works have been divided into 4 functional lots in order to make the construction phase easier and to find the further financial resources:-

1) Rebaudengo – Scalo Vanchiglia

2) Cimitero Parco Zappata

3) Zappata – Porta Nuova and

4) Porta Nuova Scalo Vanchiglia. To view the map please click here

Along with the approved tender there will be three other additions to the line, which will provide service to the Einaudi’s university campus, Pescarito Interport in San Mauro Torinese and to Caio Mario square and Bengasi square.
