The Factory Acceptance Test ceremony for the 14m diameter TBM Variable Density, named Mary, happened on thr 06/05/2021 in Germany at the Herrenknecht Deutschland facility: click here and here for two videos.

This is a major milestone for the HRBT Expansion Project,  the largest highway construction project in Virginia’s history and currently one of the biggest infrastructure projects in the US. The new twin tunnels, doubling the current traffic capacity, will be built by  the Hampton Roads Connector Partners (HRCP) joint venture, comprised of Dragados USA, Inc./VINCI Construction Grands Projets/Flatiron Construction/DODIN CAMPENON BERNARD.  

VDOT (Virginia Department of Transportation) looks forward to a continued partnership with HRTAC (Hampton Roads Transportation Accountability Commission), who have provided funding for the project, and with the design-builder Hampton Roads Connector Partners.
