In July SYTRAL, the transport association for Rhone
Department and Lyon, awarded to the Consortium Implenia (50%)/Demathieu Bard (50%)
the EUR138 million contract to build Lot GC 01 of the Metro Line B extension in
Lyon. Lot GC 01 includes a 2.4-km long tunnel, a new Metro station in Oullins
Centre and the start shaft at Saint-Genis-Laval. The tunnel, approximately 8.5
m in diameter, is being made with a TBM (length which has a length of 70 m and
a diameter of 9.5m).
The TBM will be assembled at the Saint-Genis-Laval shaft
from where it will be launched toward Ouillins at the end of 2019. The end of tunnelling
is scheduled for the beginning of 2021. From 2023, the tunnel will connect
Metro Line B to two new stations, one at Oullins Centre and another at
Saint-Genis-Laval / Hopitaux Sud, which is being built as part of Lot GC 02,
secured by the JV NGE Genie Civil / NGE Fondations / Guintoli. The geological
conditions have been investigated in depth thanks to more than 300 test
drillings. Construction is due to start in the autumn of 2018 and will take
about four and a half years to complete. Click fr/82 for tunnelbuilder archive.
