On the 19th November 2015, 24 projects and their representatives, along with 8 engineers, 5 engineering companies and 5 contractors who were all candidates for this years ITA Tunnelling Awards in Hagerbach, Switzerland found out who had won the prestigious awards.
And the winners are……
Major Project of 2015 (exceeding €500m) - Eurasia Tunnel.
Project of the Year 2015 (between €50m to €500m) - 1st Phase of Low and Intermediate Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Facility Construction in Korea (LILW).
Tunnelling Project of the Year up to €50m - Norsborg Metro Depot, part of the development of the Stockholm metro system.
Technical Innovation of the Year - Innovative Vehicle-mounted GPR Technique for Fast and Efficient Monitoring of Tunnel Lining Structure Conditions.
Environmental Initiative of the Year - the Corrib Tunnel Project.
Safety Initiative of the Year - MineARC Systems Compressed Air Management Solution.
Innovative Use of Underground Space - Toledo Metro Station on Line 1 in Naples.
Young Tunneller of the Year 2015 - Jurij Karlovsek.
Contractor of the Year - Salini-Impregilo.
Engineering Firm of the Year - WSP-Parsons Brinckerhoff
Life Time Achievement Award - Prof Sebastiano Pelizza.
