Winning combination of skills at SBTThe SBT consortium was formed in 2001 to provide rental TBMs and all required support and assistance to projects throughout the world. It brought together Austrian contractor STRABAG AG and Italian COGEIS SpA, a combination of decades of full face mechanized excavation of over 250 km of tunnels, and long knowledge of the difficulties of working in poor underground conditions. The synergy of skills has proved particularly successful with TBM tunnelling on very complex projects with difficult environmental conditions such as steep slopes, remote locations, and unpredictable geology.
