TBM Alice has begun its journey beneath St Kilda Road and the Yarra River, to connect the Metro Tunnel’s new Anzac and Town Hall stations in Melbourne, Australia. It follows the December relaunch of fellow TBM Millie, which is digging a parallel 1.8km tunnel along the same route, part of which will be 12 m under the Yarra River.  

The two TBMs previously completed tunnelling between the Anzac Station site at Domain and the Metro Tunnel's eastern entrance at South Yarra. They were then transported back to Anzac Station and recommissioned to begin digging again towards the CBD. Tunnelling on the Metro Tunnel Project is now more than 60 per cent complete.
