The Robbins Company will be hosting their first TBM webinar for the 2016 series on April 5th . The title of the webinar is “The Robbins Crossover TBM: One Machine, Many Geologies”. To register please use the following link http://bit.ly/Crossover2016.
Summary of the webinar
Today’s difficult tunnel projects can include sections of hard rock, soft ground, boulders, or a little bit of everything. Not all projects fit within the parameters of a specific TBM type, so what can contractors do? Enter Robbins’ line of Crossover TBMs, machines that can bore in vastly different geologies that would normally require the use of multiple TBMs. Adaptable Crossover machines can take the guesswork out of mixed ground projects and provide a clear path to success.
Crossover TBMs are machine designs that feature advantages from two different types of TBMs, and can be converted inside the tunnel depending on the conditions. They are also known as hybrid or dual mode machines in the tunneling industry. Various types of Crossover machines exist, the most common being the XRE (standing for Crossover between Rock/EPB), which features characteristics of Single Shield Hard Rock machines and EPBs for efficient excavation in mixed soils with rock. Additional types of Crossover machines include the XSE (Crossover between Slurry/EPB) and the XRS (Crossover between Rock/Slurry).
In this complimentary 60-minute webinar, Robbins Vice President-Sales Doug Harding will explore how Crossover TBMs work, their various designs, and real-world applications. He will draw on field data and observations to demonstrate that a machine designed for multiple geologies will pay for itself over time and provide increased efficiency in mixed ground.
Robbins invite you to submit your questions beforehand to webinars@robbinstbm.com to get a thoughtful and well-researched answer from Doug during the Q&A session at the end of the webinar.
