The Palaszczuk Government has announced the international
consortia that have won the three major works packages for the Cross-River Rail
Project in Brisbane.
The Palaszczuk Government has fully-funded this EUR3.42 bn
(AUD5.4 bn) project because it was sick of waiting on the LNP (Liberal National
Party) in Canberra to come to the table. The project, a 10.2 km rail line running
from Dutton Park to Bowen Hills, includes a 5.9 km twin tunnel under the
Brisbane River and CBD, 4 new underground stations and upgrades to existing
stations. The Cross-River Rail project will generate 7,700 jobs.
As well as improving connectivity across the entire south
east, the project will create new precincts at Boggo Road, Woolloongabba,
Albert Street, Roma Street and Exhibition, helping Brisbane evolve as a
world-class city. Cross River Rail will double heavy rail capacity through the central
business district, unlocking the network for future growth and delivering more
trains, more often.
Cross River Rail could be ready to service the South-East by
2024. Click here and au/37 for tunnelbuilder archive. Visit https://crossriverrail.qld.gov.au/ and http://statements.qld.gov.au/.
