On Saturday 14th September, 2019 at the Braque pit site in Aulnay-sous-Bois the first TBM for the Grand Paris express was christened. The TBM was named Armelle after Armelle Martin who saved a mother and her three children from a fire
The TBM was manufactured by Herrenknecht, and will drive 3.3 km from the Braque pit at Aulnay Sous-Bois to the Hugo structure at Blanc Mesnil. The Societe du Grand Paris awarded the civil engineering contract for lot 1 of line 16 to a consortium led by Eiffage Génie Civil with Razel Bec, Eiffage Rail, TSO and TSO Caténaires (co-contractors).
The second civil engineering contract for lot 2 of line 16 was awarded to a group consisting of the Italian company Salini Impregilo (agent) and the French company NGE.
