A new milestone was reached on Thursday 25 January, with the factory acceptance of the Berthe de Puybusque TBM at Thieux. It will then be transported to the Line C worksite at La Vache during 2024.
Three of the five TBMs to be used to build the 22 km of underground tunnels linking the 21 stations on the Toulouse metro line C were disassembled at the 28,000 m² site in Thieux, Seine-et-Marne, where Eiffage Génie Civil's teams, in collaboration with Herrenknecht, are working on their modification and refurbishment. The shield, skirt and cutting wheel will be new. The rest of the TBM will be adapted to the Line C project.
The three TBMs (old names Sarah, Bantan and Armelle) were used on the Grand Paris Express line 16 project between 2019 and 2021.
The three reconditioned TBMs - 110 m in length, 9.67 m in diameter - will be used to dig the 12.7 km of the future line C of the Toulouse metro (Lot 1 and Lot 2):
- Berthe de Puybusque, for the 4.7 km section between Ponts-Jumeaux and Raisin;
- Lise Enjalbert, for the 4 km section from Ponts-Jumeaux to Puits Laporte;
- Jeanne Marvig, for the 4 km from Colomiers Gare to Puits Laporte.
