Parts of the first Follo Line TBM (diameter 9.96 m, length 150 m, weight 2400 t) have arrived in Norway. This first shipment included segments for the large cutterhead. This is the first of four similar TBMs which will be used in the construction of 18,5 km tunnel on the Follo Line Project with an expected average excavation speed of 12-15 m/day.
The first TBM shipment arrived the port of Fredrikstad Thursday 28.04.2016 and was transported to the construction site in Oslo, where it will be assembled. More shipments of the next set of TBMS will arrive in the coming weeks, All four Follo Line TBMs are assembled first at the Herrenknecht factory in Germany before they are taken apart and transported to the site. They will be assembled 1 km inside the mountain in gigantic halls, before they start their excavation journey, two towards Oslo and two towards the city of Ski, a journey which is estimated to end in the winter 2018. The 8.75 m diameter tunnel will be the longest railway tunnel in Scandinavia when it’s completed in 2021.Click here and no/86 for the tunnelbuilder archive.Visit http://www.jernbaneverket.no, http://www.acciona-infrastructure.com/ and http://www.ghella.com/. 18/16.
