Dubai Municipality has awarded to Parsons Overseas Ltd (USA) the
contract for consultancy and supervision of the EUR3.01 billion (AED 12.5
billion) Dubai Strategic Sewerage Tunnel project. The contract includes
feasibility studies, preliminary design, tender preparation and support
followed by project management of detailed design and construction supervision
once the main contractor is appointed. The main construction contract will be
tendered within the next 12 months. However, the scope and number of packages
will not be clear until after Parsons finishes its early designs.
The project includes construction of two deep
wastewater tunnels and associated link sewers. The total combined length of the
tunnels will be 75 km, reaching depths of up to 90 m and supported by 135 km of
