Veidekke from Stockholm has been awarded by Stockholm Vatten och Avfall the EUR 78.27 million (SEK 898 million) contract to build a new 4km wastewater tunnel with an associated access tunnel that will relieve Stockholm's wastewater system and reduce flood risk. The new Mässtunneln tunnel will run from Stockholmsmassan in Alvsjo (Stockholm) through Solberga, Vastberga and Midsommarkransen to Liljeholmen. The access tunnel will be built at Kontrollvägen in northern Solberga, from which the wastewater tunnel will be blasted and drilled in two directions. Construction is scheduled to start in December, with the tunnel scheduled to be operational in 2030.
