The joint venture Zueblin Scandinavia AB (leader and subsidiary of the German Strabag SE)/Boskalis Sweden AB won the EUR170 million design and construction agreement for the 500 m-long Marieholm tunnel project, an immersed bi-tube tunnel, three lanes in either direction, passing under the Gota Alv River and connecting the urban districts of Marieholm and Tingstad in Gothenburg. The tunnel, 30 m-wide and 10 m-high, will be located 600 m north of the existing Tingstadstunnel. The contract comprises the mechanical and electrical works and an option to operate and maintain the tunnel for five years. Construction time 2014–2020.
