Construction management has been awarded to Euroconsult for EUR288,500. The section Sukarrieta-Lamiaran wastewater treatment plant includes the construction of a water pipe and a gravity tunnel to transport sewage. The 2,623 m-long, 4.1 m-diameter tunnel will be wide enough to allow service vehicles to do maintenance and cleaning tasks. It will be built in majority (80%) at a depth of over 30 metres, with maximum depth of 120 m and minimum depth of 14 m, using the drill/blast method, in principle with a minimum of two drives from both ends. The rock is siltstone and sandy marls. 90% of the support will consist of bolts and shotcrete reinforced with steel fibres. Where the overburden is slight, an intermediate access will be built (14 m deep shaft) to guarantee the accessibility to the tunnel and its ventilation and install the electric supply. Construction will start at the end of June approximately. In a second phase, an underground pumping station is envisaged in the Marisma park in Sukarrieta.
