The JV composed of Greece’s Aktor SA (32 percent), India’s Larsen &Toubro, Turkey’s Yapi Merkezi (Yapi Merkezi Insaat ve Sanayi Anonim Sirketi) and STFA (Sezai Turkes Feyzi Akkaya Marine Construction) and Qatar’s Al Jaber Engineering signed the EUR3.2 billion contract (RTC/040/2012) for the design and construction of the project “Gold Line Underground” in Doha, Qatar. Gold Line will traverses Doha from east to west and will connect the airport’s northern part with Souq Waqif, Msheireb, Bin Mahmoud, Al Sadd and Al Waab. The project includes 32km of 6 m-diameter bored tunnelling lined with approximately 128,000 segments, six TBMs utilized simultaneously, 13 underground stations fitted out with high-end finishes and state of the art mechanical, engineering and plumbing (MEP) systems, 2.5 million cu m of excavations for the stations and one million cu m of concreting.
