The project involves a new 27 km-long route on E39 including 10 km of tunnels. Selmer Skanska is the construction and operations partner in the consortium. Concession for a period of 25 years. Visit www.vegvesen.no 05/03.To excavate six tunnels totalling 10.5 km on subsection Oysand-Thamshamn (22 km) of E39 motorway section from Klett to Bí¥rdshaug on the Norwegian coast, Selmer Skanska will use the drill/blast method. The tunnels are Brekk (1,260 m), Mannsfjell (1,740 m), Svalnes (770 m), Naust (275 m), Viggja (2,700 m) and Storsand (3,750 m). All single tubes with two lanes, profile T9.5 m, blasting cross section approximately 70 sq m. Geology for Storsand consists of gneiss. Support with rockbolts and shotcrete. Steel fibre-reinforced shotcrete when necessary. Muck removal with dumper trucks. Main engineering firm is Aas-Jacobsen. Tunnel cost: NOK50,000 per metre approximately. Construction period from April 2003 to September 2005. The Storsand tunnel will be blasted from December 2003 to October 2004. To date, one kilometre has been excavated at different work sites, out of the total tunnel length. This is the first ever motorway concession in Norway, to last 25 years from 1st September, 2005.
