The Comunication and Transport Secretariate (SCT) of Mexico awarded to Global Vía Infraestructuras, a company jointly owned by FCC and Caja Madrid, a EUR400 million contract to design, build, operate and maintain the 85 km Nuevo Necaxa-Tihuatlí¡n motorway. The project comprises the construction, operation and maintenance of the 37 km Necaxa-Avila Camacho section and the operation and maintenance of the 48 km Avila Camacho-Tihuatlí¡n section. The scheme requires the construction and/or operation of 12 tunnels, among which nine tunnels on the Necaxa-Avila Camacho section: Huahuchinango (108 m), Necaxa (940 m), Cuahueyatla (620 m), Xicotepec I (247 m), Xicotepec II (832 m), El Zoquita (627 m), Las Pilas I (215 m), Las Pilas II (512 m), and La Ardilla (175 m).
