The consortium Bovina Orsara AV secured the EUR367.21 million contract, excluding VAT, to design-and-build the 11.8 km Orsara-Bovino section of the Naples-Bari high-speed railway. The line will support trains travelling at speeds ranging between 200 and 250 km per hour. The project will double the capacity of the existing single rail train service along this section, passing for the most part through the Orsara tunnel (9871 m). It will also include a temporary connection of a double-rail line with the historic one for supporting trains travelling at speeds of up to 90 km per hour.
