Open call for bids, deadline 13th February, 2007 for engineering services for the Lower Thjorsa hydroelectric project. The contract includes tender design and preparation of tender documents for civil construction and electromechanical equipment for the utilisation of the remaining hydropower potential in the Thjí³rsí¡ river downstream of Bíºrfell hydropower station in South Iceland. The contract also includes an option for detail design of civil works and design review of electromechanical works. The project includes three new run-of-river hydro power stations: Hvammur, Holt and Urridafoss. The Hvammur scheme includes a powerhouse of the shaft type and a combined tunnel/canal tailrace. The Urridafoss scheme includes short underground penstocks and a 3 km-long tailrace tunnel. The powerhouse is located underground.
