Open call for bids, deadline 5th September, 2007 for construction of two tunnels, one above the other approx. 80 metres apart, to reinforce the right embankment of the future Iliarion dam in Kozani. The ground is karstic geology and marble full of cavities, which need to be filled up by grouting from inside the upper and lower tunnels. The top tunnel is about 600 m long, whereof 475 metres for grouting. Its ceiling only will be concreted. The bottom tunnel is approx. 650 m long, whereof 420 metres for grouting. It will be concrete lined all around its cross-section. Their width is 4.40 m and their height 4.70 metres. The drill/blast method will be used. The contract is due to be awarded shortly after bid submission and assessment to commence work as soon as possible since these are preparatory works for the dam.
