Contract Description

DB InfraGO AG has launched a negotiated tender procedure for the Nord Main S-Bahn (NMS) project, a key regional rail expansion scheme in Hesse involving the construction of a new electrified double-track S-Bahn line linking Frankfurt am Main, via Maintal to Hanau. This project includes integration with the existing underground S-Bahn network through a 1.4 km tunnel from Frankfurt East to the Frankfurt-Konstablerwache station, addressing growing mobility demand in the Rhine-Main region.  

The work is split into three lots covering civil engineering, tunnelling, rail systems and associated infrastructure required to deliver rail capacity enhancements for the region.  

 

Scope of Works

The contract comprises the planning, execution and delivery of:
• Construction of a new double-track electrified S-Bahn line between Frankfurt am Main and Hanau (via Maintal)
• Design and construction of a 1.4 km underground tunnel section linking Frankfurt East to Hauptwache/ Konstablerwache for network integration
• Track laying, electrification and signalling infrastructure
• Structural civil engineering, including tunnels and urban railway interfaces
• Coordination with existing urban infrastructure and rail operations

 

Contract Duration

• 16 March 2026 to 31 December 2031
