Contract Description

A/S Storebælt has awarded a contract for the design, manufacture and delivery of tunnel ventilation equipment for the Great Belt rail tunnel in Denmark. The contract forms part of ongoing works to enhance safety and operational reliability within the 8 km-long immersed tunnel, which carries rail traffic beneath the Great Belt strait.

The contract has been awarded to Novenco Building & Industry A/S, based in Næstved, Denmark, a specialist supplier of high-performance ventilation solutions for tunnel and infrastructure applications.

 

Scope of Works

The contract includes:
• Design and engineering of tunnel ventilation equipment
• Production of 160 new jet fans
• Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
• Delivery of equipment to the construction site
• On-site supervision during installation
• Technical documentation and handover

The jet fans will support longitudinal ventilation and smoke control within the tunnel, contributing to compliance with modern safety and fire protection standards for rail tunnels.

• Awarded value: EUR 2.83 million
• Equivalent: DKK 21.13 million
• VAT: Excluded

 

Project Background

The Great Belt Fixed Link is one of Denmark’s most critical transport corridors, connecting Zealand and Funen. The rail tunnel, consisting of twin single-track tubes, plays a key role in national and international rail traffic. Continuous upgrades are being implemented to ensure long-term safety, resilience and regulatory compliance.
