DMTCL - Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd awarded to the consortium composed by Egis Rail SA (leader, France), SMEC (Singapore) and OCG - Oriental Consultant Global (Japan) the contract for the design of the 17.4 km Dhaka Metro Line 5 South, including a 12.8 km underground section from Gabtoli to Aftabnagar West with 12 stations. The 3-year Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line 5 project in Dhaka is divided into three distinct phases:
- Review and revision of the feasibility study during nine months
- Detailed design of the civil engineering and systems up to the DCE for fifteen months
- Assistance in the evaluation of bids and in the selection of builders
