The World Tunnel Congress 2017 in Bergen, Norway opened yesterday its theme ‘Underground Solutions for Surface Problems’ . The event began with an opening address by H.K.H. Crown Prince Haakon Magnus who officially started the congress. The audience was treated to a cultural performance by the musicians from the Bergen philharmonic orchestra accompanied by a slideshow of photos of the beauty of Norway by Auden Rikardsen. Welcome speeches were given by Arne Hjeltnes who gave a funny but insightful view on tunnelling in Norway, Frode Nilsen from the NFF and Christer Nilsen from the Norwegian government. Tarcisio Celestino welcomed everyone on behalf of the ITA General Asssembly overall one of the best WTC opening ceremonies! There are  120 exibitors, 1550 attendees so far.
