Vilavella tunnel excavation complete

On 29.04.2013 breakthrough was achieved on the right tube of Vilavella tunnel on the 3.8 km-long Tunnel de la Canda-Vilavella sub-section of the Madrid-Galicia high-speed line. Driven using NATM techniques, the 902 m-long right tube has a 52 sq m inner section. The 99 m-long and 69 m-long portal sections were constructed in cut/cover. The breakthrough in the left tube, 869 m-long with the two portal sections 78 m and 69 m in cut/cover, occurred on 12.04.2013. Click es/45 for tunnelbuilder archive. Visit www.adif.es. 18/13.
