Full section excavation of the monotube Murtineddu and Marapintau tunnels with their parallel safety tunnels was completed by end-2011. The 2,590 m Murtineddu tunnel, with 40 m in cut/cover, and the 1,290 m Marapintau tunnel, with 80 m in cut/cover, were constructed by contractor Todini as part of the Capo Boi-Terra Mala section on the bypass to road SS 125.
