The first TBM has been launched for the Lucknow metro in India

The first Terratec TBM EPB, named Gomti, diameter 6.52m, has been assembled 18-m below ground in the launching shaft of the Sachivalaya Station. The TBM will first dig 780 m towards the underground Hazratganj Station at which point it will be removed. 

The second TBM, named Ganga, is in the final stages of assembly and will start the tunnelling work on the `Down' Line by the first week of March. They will then both be launched again from Sachivalaya station's shaft and tunnel to Hussainganj underground station.

Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) began underground construction work in mid-2016. The 3.44km long underground Metro corridor, awarded to Tata – Gülermak JV -  will have three stations, Hussainganj, Sachivalaya and Hazratganj and is expected to be completed by March 2019.
