On 27.07.2012 the 15.62 m-diameter TBM Martina (EPB S-5) broke through the 2,564 m northbound tube of the Sparvo tunnel on Italy’s Variante di Valico project. The drive took 6.5 months on a 24/7 basis. The EUR65 million TBM owned by Toto will transit for re-assembly for the 2,600 m southbound tube. End of works is scheduled for June 2013.
