In the launch pit of the future Tokyo station of the M6 line of the Bucharest metro, assembly work is proceeding at a rapid pace on the TBM that from April will dig 24/7 one of the tunnels of the South section, between the 1 Mai and Tokyo stations:
click here for the video. The first parts of the TBM, including the 128 t shield, arrived at the future Tokyo station starting from the beginning of March.
The M6 line will guarantee a direct connection from Gara de Nord to the Henri Coanda - Otopeni International Airport. The 14.2 km route will include 12 stations: Pajura, Expoziției, Piața Montreal, Gara Băneasa, Baneasa Airport, Tokyo, Washington, Paris, Brussels, Otopeni, Ion IC Bratianu, Henri Coanda International Airport.
The design and construction of the M6 line was divided into two sections: South (1 Mai - Tokyo, Lot 1.1) and North (Tokyo - Otopeni Airport, Lot 1.2). The contracts were awarded separately in 2022 and 2023.
