Seattle Tunnel Partners, WSDOT’s contractor for the SR 99 tunnel project, has started building the circular pit to access and repair their TBM. Rigs have begun work to install the 75 piles that will enclose the 38 m-deep pit to the tunnel base datum. It is expected that during October, 2014 the TBM will be revealed for full inspection prior to disassembly for repair to the seal system and main bearing. By November a full appraisal of machine repairs will be submitted to WSDOT.
