The Stockholm metro will be expanded with the building of the new Yellow line from Odenplan in Stockholm to Arenastaden in Solna. The new line will have three new stations (Hagastaden, Sodra Hagalund and Arenastaden) and it will also be connected to the Green line at Odenplan.
Blasting began in the work area this month at Norra Stationsgatan to start the 600-m-long working tunnel. This tunnel will lead to the future Hagastaden station, which is approximately 20 m underground.
The work is being carried out by Subterra Sverige AB on behalf of the Stockholm Region. It will take about a year to build Hagastaden's work tunnel. After that, the construction of the track tunnels between Odenplan and Arenastaden and of the Hagastaden station will begin.
Three working tunnels will be built along the section from Odenplan to Arenastaden - one for each station. At Rudviken, preparatory work for Sodra Hagalund's work tunnel has been ongoing since the spring and ground reinforcement work will then begin during the summer. The construction of Arenastaden's working tunnel in Solna is not expected to start until 2021. For further information on the railway plan click here and click se/91 for tunnelbuilder archive.
