At the beginning of January 2022 L&T completed the 2072 m long tunnel from Priyadarshini Park to Girgaon Chowpatty/Girgaum Chowpatty/Girgaon Chaupty. It’s the first breakthrough for the slurry shield TBM Mavala (12.19 m diameter) for the Mumbai’s 29.2 km Coastal Road (Western Freeway) project, Package-4. The TBM has excavated for over a year through challenging geological conditions and under structures of historical and cultural importance.
