THE ITA TUNNELLING and UNDERGROUND SPACE AWARDS
2019- 5th EDITION. The 5th edition of the international tunnelling and
underground space awards welcomes new applications, ITA is now calling new
candidates to apply.
Profiling particularly outstanding achievements of underground infrastructure
across the world through these Awards, ITA intends to identify and support a
wide and diverse range of tunnelling projects, from large-scale and
large-budget infrastructures to more discrete but revolutionary technical
innovations.

After the last successful edition in Chuzhou, China, the International
Tunnelling and Underground Space Association is getting prepared for the fifth
edition of the ITA Tunnelling Awards.
The 2019 edition will take place on 18 November, in Miami, USA during the 8th
Cutting Edge Conference from 18 to 20 Nov.
Candidacy process:
This year the Entries can be submitted in 8 categories:
• Major Project of the Year - over €500m
• Project of the Year - between €50m and €500m
• Project of the Year including renovation - up to €50m
• Technical Project Innovation of the Year
• Technical Product/Equipment Innovation of the Year
• Innovative Underground Space concept of the Year
• Safety Initiative of the Year
• Young Tunneller of the Year

Nominations for the different categories must be related to projects
for which the major civil engineering work was completed between 1st January
2017 and 1st April 2019.
The Young Tunneller of the Year rewards an individual born after 1st January
1985 and who has brought an outstanding contribution to tunnelling.
