Press release - Applications are now sought for this year’s BTS Harding Prize. The competition is open to all tunnelling engineers of the age of 33 or below at the end of the previous year. The entry must consist of an original paper relating to any aspect of tunnelling which the entrant considers to be of interest to others in the tunnelling industry.
Harding Prize Rules and entry details
The Harding Prize is named after the founder Chairman of the Society, Sir Harold Harding. Entrants must submit an original paper relating to any aspect of tunnelling which they consider of interest to those in the tunnelling industry. The papers will be reviewed by the BTS Sub-Committee and authors of selected papers will be invited to present to the BTS meeting on Thursday 15th April 2021 which will be an online only meeting due to COVID-19.
The winner will be presented with a copy of Sir Harold Harding book, Tunnelling history and my own involvement, a certificate and a cheque for £500. Finalists whose papers are selected for presentation will each receive a cheque for £100 and all remaining entrants who submitted a paper to an approved standard will receive a cheque for £50.
