Grand Paris Express updates - Line 16

Line 16 (27.5 km) of the Grand Paris Express project will be entirely underground and three works lots are planned with the use of 8 TBMs. The works’ are scheduled to finish in 2030. Lot 2 - from Aulnay-sous-Bois to Chelles  which includes 4 stations, 11 annexed works and 11.1 km of tunnels  -  was won by the Webuild-NGE BTP group in the Autumn of 2018.

On 04/02/2021 the cutting head of a TBM (weight 180 t, diameter 9.86 m) the 8th for the South section of line 16) of Lot 2 was lowered into the 50 m deep Bel-Air shaft at Chelles and it will be launched towards Mare au Chanvre shaft between Sevran and Livry-Gargan.

TBM Houda (the 7th for line 16), has been launched from the other end of line 16,  has already driven its first 120 m and is being equipped for its final configuration before it restarts. The two TBMs have to dig 11.1 km of tunnels in the north of the Ile de France.

South extension Line 14

The  cutting wheel of TBM Claire is currently being disassembled in small pieces from 50 to 100 t at the Jean Prouvé site. By mid-February, the TBM will be totally dismantled.
