First Robbins TBM for Karahnjukar - is/14The Owner, the Consultant and Impregilo have signed off on delivery of the first of three Robbins TBMs for the Karahnjukar project in Iceland. The first TBM is a 7.6 m- diameter factory-rebuilt unit, while the other two will be brand new 7.2 m-diameter machines. All will be fitted with Robbins' hugely successful 19 inch cutters. The US$530 million contract to construct the Karahnjukar dam and underground works includes a 39.8 km-long, 7.6 m-diameter headrace tunnel and 13.5 km of diversion tunnels.
