The European Investment Bank (EIB) is lending EUR238 million towards the construction of the 6.7 km-long central section of Warsaw’s new metro line. The section includes seven stations and a 400 m-long connecting tunnel between new and old metro lines. As part of this loan agreement, the EIB is also supporting the expansion of the existing Kabaty metro depot. The installation of train traffic control, telecommunication and fare collection systems are also included in the project, which will be completed by 2014/2015.
