On 29.11.2012 excavation commenced from the southern adit of the 2,050 m Callosa de Segura railway tunnel, located on the 9.8 km San Isidro-Orihuela section of the Madrid-Castilla La Mancha-Comunidad Valenciana-Murcia high speed line. The tunnel alignment is through Cox and Callosa de Segura municipalities. Work from the north adit (Alicante side) started in April, 2012, and by early-December had advanced 600 m. Excavation of the parallel safety tunnel is ongoing. This 1,042 m drive, with inner section of 12.4 sq m, will connect with the main tube by two crosspassages. Click here, here and es/95.
