Spanish rail tunnels startOn 13.07.2011 NATM excavation of Callosa De Segura tunnel commenced as part of the 9.8 km-long San Isidro-Orihuela section of the Madrid-Castilla La Mancha-Valencia-Murcia high speed line. The tunnel, overall length 2,050 m with 10 m and 20 m in cut/cover at the north and south portals, has a 130 sq m excavated section with an 86.4 sq m lined section. The parallel safety tunnel, linked with the main tunnel through two cross-passages, will be 1,042 m-long with 12.4 sq m section. www.adif.es.Two days later, on 15.07.2011, the Alcazaba TBM started excavation of the second tube of the 7.5 km-long Sorbas tunnel on the Sorbas-Barranco de los Gafarillos section on the Almeria-Murcia Region high speed railway.
