On 31.07.2012 breakthrough the Col Cavalier tunnel in Belluno municipality (BL). The tunnel is 1,826 m long, of which 210 m in cut/cover, is part of the upgrading of a large section of SP1 Left Piave.

The complete EUR63 million project is financed by national and regional funds. Veneto Strade SpA awarded the EUR45 million tunnel contract to the JV Oberosler SpA (leader) - Sacaim SpA - Deon SpA. Construction started on 17.06.2010. Tunnel excavation begun on April 6, 2011. The 1,616 m rock tunnel was driven in 483 days starting 06.04.2011, extracting approximately 200,000 cu m of muck.
