4th International Conference on Traffic and Safety in Road TunnelsA fair amount of attention is being paid to tunnel projects with regard to safety. However, despite the application of state-of-the-art technology, road crashes of catastrophic dimension still occur. Fortunately, fatal accidents are seldom, but even minor incidents require a high level of operational readiness and safety measures in order to prevent the worst.Under the motto "New findings for a safer future", Pöyry Infra Traffic organizes the fourth international conference on traffic and safety in road tunnel on 25th-27th April, a biennial event held in Hamburg, Germany. The conference is aimed at all planners and civil engineers interested in finding out more about safety in modern tunnels. A detailed insight will be provided: from planning through to equipment of tunnel with traffic-related and operational systems and further on to research and development of new safety systems.Speakers from Australia, Austria, Canada, Croatia, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland will present the results of the latest studies, application-oriented developments and experiences with regard to new traffic and safety equipment. Following each focal point there will be room for professional discussion.Participants will learn about the latest research as well as new findings and developments in the field of safety technology. The conference will also be the opportunity to exchange experiences and to socialise. In addition to the papers there will be a technical exhibition. Companies involved in tunnel operation, equipment and safety will display their products and services. Contact Selma Knudsen, tel. +49 4036969210, fax +49 4036969236, e-mail
