Strabag secured the EUR17.5 million contract for the modernization of the Kaiserstuhl power plant near Giswil, in the Swiss canton of Obwalden. The contract includes a TBM for diagonal shaft, steel-lined and concrete backfilled (length 740 m, diameter 3 m, slope 31%); reservoir tunnel (length 1,985 m, excavation cross-section 20 sq m), surge chamber (excavation volume 2,000 cu m) and apparatus chamber with throttle valve; auxiliary and discharge tunnel (length 240 m, excavation cross-section 7 sq m); access and ventilation tunnel (length 180 m, excavation cross-section 19 sq m).
