Construction of 22.6 km-long metro linking Panamdong with Uesamdong started in 1996. First 12.3 km section from Panamdong to Taejon Government Complex with 11 stations is entirely underground, except for the eastern depot area. 26% will be complete by end-2000 with opening planned for 2002.
