The City of Oslo awarded to the joint venture AF Gruppen (60%)/Ghella (40%) the EUR 870 million (NOK 8.75 bn) contract, excluding VAT, for the design and construction of the E6 Rentvannstunnel a new water distribution network between Huseby, Oset and Stubberud.
The new tunnel will be built with several connection points that will connect the existing water mains along the route. Approximately 11 km of tunnel will be drilled by TBM and 7 km by traditional method (drill and blast). In addition, the Joint Venture will build clean water basins and a pump station. The works/contract is a part of the new water supply project that will ensure 100% redundancy for the current potable water supply infrastructure for the city of Oslo. The work is planned to start in April 2022 and will be completed in November 2027.
