Leonhard Nilsen & Sonner got a contract in December 2005 to build 13 underground silos and a 1.7 km rail tunnel, as part of the SILA project to expand the storage capacity for mineral ore at Narvik harbour. Construction is under way using a fleet of seven surface drill rigs for the silos, supplied by Tamrock and Atlas Copco, and two 3-boom underground drill rigs for the tunnel, supplied by AMV and Atlas Copco. Visit www.tamrock.sandvik.com, www.atlascopco.com and www.amv-as.no 25/06.Trondheim Energiverk (TEV) awarded a NOK140 million contract to AF Spesialprosjekt to build the Leirfossene hydro power scheme, which includes a 50 m-deep 50 sq m pressure shaft, a 250 m-long 50 sq m pressure tunnel, a 700 m-long 50 sq m access tunnel, an underground power station (width 15 m x length 60 m x height 20 m) and a 1.5 km-long 60 sq m tailrace tunnel from the power station to the outlet. It is planned to use an Atlas Copco 353 WF jumbo (1998 model). Work started on 8th June, 2006 for completion in the summer of 2008.
