Sandvik Tamrock has been awarded the contract to supply two computerized full data Axera tunnelling jumbos to be used by contractor Mika AS to excavate the tunnel from Asker to Jong, which is part of a double-track railway between Oslo and Asker. The contract involves the new construction of a 2.8 km section of double track between Skí¸yen and Asker, west of Oslo. The project is one of four sections of the new railway line between Lysaker and Sandvika. Skanska’s assignment includes all work except track laying. The section includes a 1.2 km railway tunnel, including securing, pre-injection, waterproofing and frost protection, etc. and approx. 800 metres of railway at ground level. The contract price is NOK365 million. The contract involves tunnelling from an access tunnel at Skallum in Bí¦rum. Veidekke will establish the approximately 420 m-long access tunnel down to the main tunnel for the double-track line. It will drive approximately 800 metres of tunnel in the direction of Lysaker and 800 metres in the direction of Sandvika. Both tunnels will be driven to connect up with neighbouring contracts. A 240 m-long tunnel is to be constructed down by the main line for double-track railway services at Fossveien in Bí¦rum. Subsequently, a 1,050 m-long tunnel will be constructed towards Lysaker and a 750 m-long tunnel towards Sandvika. These two tunnels will connect with other tunnel contracts.
