Project scope
Request for Information issued to identify software solutions capable of interpreting drilling data and supporting geological tunnel mapping for the Arna–Stanghelle (FAS) road and railway development project in western Norway.
The market consultation aims to identify systems capable of processing Measurement While Drilling (MWD) data and integrating these data with digital tunnel mapping platforms. The systems are intended to support geological documentation and real-time interpretation during large-scale tunnel excavation.
Key functional requirements include:
- MWD interpretation tools capable of analysing drilling parameters to identify rock mass characteristics such as hardness, fracturing and water inflow.
- Digital tunnel mapping software for geological and structural documentation of excavations.
- Integration of drilling and mapping data, enabling management of large datasets associated with extensive underground works.
The software solutions are intended for use on the joint Arna–Stanghelle transport corridor, which includes extensive tunnelling works on both the E16 highway and the Vossebanen railway line. The project forms part of a major safety and capacity upgrade along the Bergen–Voss transport corridor.

Tunnel characteristics
The Arna–Stanghelle project includes approximately 80 km of tunnels for combined road and railway infrastructure. Excavation will involve extensive drill-and-blast tunnelling in hard rock, requiring continuous geological monitoring and digital mapping.
