Hindustan Construction Company has been awarded the Uri II hydroelectric project by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC). Stage II of the scheme is located on river Jhelum in Baramulla district of Jammu & Kashmir. The project mainly comprises of a 50 m-high dam, a 132 m-long x 15 m-wide x 41 m-high underground power house (4 units of 60 MW each), a 4,275 m-long 8.4 m-diameter headrace tunnel, a 3,775 m-long 8.4 m-diameter tailrace tunnel, a 25 m-diameter surge shaft and a pressure shaft.
