8.7 km-long Breidadals-Botnsheidi tunnel to connect three valleys on peninsula with all-weather access. Joint venture of Skanska/Istak/Selmer/Pihl carried out $35 million excavation. Main section is two-way tunnel but shorter diversions into the valleys are single-lane with pass-by every 160 m. August 1995.
Opened to traffic. December 1995.
